This section will provide details of the current state of the
front\rear major components. Namely the engines, gearboxes and
suspension.

Notes Both clutches are operated hydraulically.
The stock Vauxhall gear linkage at the front was shortened to suit
the mini and the plastic gearstick cage was filed slightly on the sides
to allow extra left\right motion.

Notes After more testing the rear was still quite loose, the
spring load was set quite high on the rear and I lowered it somewhat but
then found the rear tyres scrubbed on the inner arches. To remedy
this I have now raised the body an extra 20mm and this seems to have
improved the rear stability quite a lot and the tyres no longer rub.
As I had changed the suspension again it was again 4 wheel tracked.
I decided to remove some of the front caster leaving approx 4 deg now
and also increased the rear toe slightly from 0.75mm to 1mm.
I'm hoping this setup will be ok now and it felt quite stable on the
drive home from the alignment. The suspension on stock mini AVO
springs was found to be too soft, I have now fitted some 500lb springs. |

Performance Testing 1 Here will be
various performance tests using a G-Tech RR device at different stages
of the tuning and engine combinations.
I have used the Gtech for some time on different cars and found it to
be quite accurate and consistent if supplied with correct RPM pickup
calibration and vehicle weight settings. When used at Santa Pod it was
consistently within 0.1sec \ 2mph of actual result from drag strip.
